Essential Oils of the Bible
June 6th, 2016 by Vigilo
Essential Oils are a means to improve your physical, spiritual, and psychological health. Learn how you can strengthen your bodily temple…. so you can better receive the Holy Ghost.
Essential oil-derived plants are referred to well over 500 times in the Bible! Even more notable, specific use of essential oils comes directly from the mouth of the LORD!
Essential Oils (contracted from “quintessential oils”) are naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds, derived from the distillation of a plant and its parts. (flowers, leaves, wood, bark, roots, seeds, or peel) There are over a dozen essential oils of the Bible, most popular of which are: Myrrh, Frankincense, Calamus (cane), Cedarwood, Cinnamon, and Cassia.
With such a prevalent use of essential oils of the Bible, and actual directive about their use from the LORD, how is it that essential oils are not a staple in our well being? Our bodies are supposed to be temples for the Holy Ghost, so isn’t it our responsibility to use God-given means to achieve our wellness? Essential oils of the Bible are not only “God-given”, but they are “God-directed”!
The Holy Anointing Oil
In Exodus 30: 22-29, we see….
Following that passage, the Lord specified a composition to be used for Holy Incense in Exodus 30: 34-35….
Through the Holy Anointing Oil and Holy Incense, we can see that the Lord clearly places a value in the spices and herbs which he has given man.
Now, DO NOT go and copy the exact recipe from Exodus. These specific compositions were sanctified and only to be used for the Lord’s specific purpose. So do not try to duplicate the recipe! He warns of being “cut off” and “perishing” to those who use these compositions for their own pleasure! Though some may argue that with Christ came a new order.
Either way, we can utilize the essential oils of the Bible, which God has provided, in an infinite amount of other ways. We can use these God-given plants, in the form of essential oils, to improve our wellness, and provide a better temple for the Holy Ghost.
Let’s take a closer look at the 6 most frequently referenced essential oils of the Bible.
